Well. There's nothing like an unexpected d e a t h of a c0 w 0 rker to bring down the mood on a Monday morning. Oh, she was not someone I knew well... located in another city, and sadly, my few dealings with her in the 3 years I've been here were mostly unpleasant ones, so I kind-of avoided speaking to her if I could. But I still got teary-eyed in the meeting, and of course it's a sad day for those who were close to her.
Makes me think, "Gosh, I hope not to experience my demise while on company time." (Which she was, actually: at an off-site conference. Awful, no?)
It also makes it extremely difficult to concentrate. (One, because I worked at another company once and we lost someone whom I did like, very much; it happened in the office. So, sad memories.) But two, because for me, focus is a huge problem even in normal situations.
